Weather Update:
It’s shaping up to be a lovely day, but let’s take a look at the weather. We’ve had several days with below-average highs, but today marks the end of a nine-day streak. We’re finally going to break through and enjoy a bit of warmth! The morning temperatures vary, ranging from some frostier readings in Talland and Willamantic to a milder 50° in Meridan. However, by the afternoon, we’re expecting highs to range in the 60s, with inland areas reaching mid to upper 60s and around 60° along the shoreline.
Here’s a breakdown of some town-specific temperatures:
- Washington: 63°
- Bristol: 65°
- Windsor: 68°
- Talland: 65°
- Plainfield: 66°
The normal high for this time of year is 60°, so we are definitely above average.
Traffic Update:
Let’s now switch to traffic. Everything seems to be going smoothly at the moment. Drive times are as follows:
- Hartford to New Haven: 30 minutes
- Waterbury to Hartford: 30 minutes
- George Washington Bridge: 1 hour 20 minutes
Traffic is light, thanks to spring break, which has reduced commuter numbers. However, we are seeing some delays in the Bridgeport area, particularly on the Parkway southbound and on 95 southbound.
And now, for a quick look at the weather through the lens of our traffic cameras, you can see the beautiful sunshine. Just remember to bring your sunglasses because sun glare might be an issue. We also have a lovely view of the Baldwin Bridge between Old Lime and Old Sabrook.
WNBA Draft Update:
Now, let’s talk about tonight. It’s an exciting evening for basketball fans as the WNBA Draft is happening. Paige Beckers, fresh off her national championship win, is expected to be the number one pick. If she is selected, this will make her the sixth Yukon Husky to be the number one draft pick in the WNBA. No other school has that many.
If there are no surprises, Paige will be heading to the Dallas Wings, who have the first pick. Paige is a trailblazer in college athletics; she became the first college athlete to have her own Nike Play Edition shoe and the first to sign an NIL deal with Gatorade. According to multiple sources, she is the third most valuable woman in college sports, with the second largest social media following and the highest engagement from her followers.
The draft will begin at 7:30 and continue through three rounds with a total of 38 picks. Channel 3’s Mark Robbins will be live at the draft, bringing us updates throughout the night.
